Taskbar Properites

Taskbar Properties : Taskbar is the rectangular box situated at the bottom of the desktop.
To view the taskbar properties just simply right click on the taskbar and select properties.
Taskbar properties involve

1. Lock the taskbar: To lock and unlock the taskbar. If you unlock the  taskbar then
you can move taskbar at any four side of the window.But you can not place it at the
middle of the desktop.You can also change the size of the taskbar. You can not change
its lenght you can change its width.

2.Auto hide the taskbar: You can hide the taskbar. If you open some window and you dont
 want taksbar visible by simply selecting auto hide option taskbar hides.



3. Group of similar taskbar buttons : Suppose if you have open 15 files at a time in MS Word
and you can see all of them on the taskbar. But it makes a confusion or it makes a clutter.
At this time simply select group similar taskbar buttons. Then all 15 files will have a one group.


4. Keep taskbar on top of other window: If you have open my computer and your taskbar is behind my
computer window just simlpy select this option and it will keep  taskbar at the front of other window.


5.Quick launch : All your desktop icons need double click to open them. By selecting this option windows
open by single cilck.

Windows

Windows  operating system created by microsoft in mid 10980's. Over the years there have been many different versions of windows. But the most popular ones are Windows 7(released in 2009), Windows Vista (released in 2007)  and Windows XP(released in 2001) .

Windows is the multipurpose and multitasking operating system.  It means that you  can log in as as a different user name to acess your computer.

Introduction to desktop: The screen you can see on the computer home page is called a desktop. Desktop is divided in to three parts. 

1. Background

2. Icons

3. Taskbar

Background : Any picture or wallpaper you see on the desktop is called background of the desktop.

Icons: Any file or folders are placed on the desktop are known as a icon. Icons are furtherly divided in to two parts system icons and user icons.

System icons are by default created on the desktop. These icons delat with computer system.

Such as my computer, mydocuments and recycle bin.

User icon are  created by user for its benifits. It can be any file or folder.

Taskbar: It is rectangle box situated at the bottom of the desktop. It  can be placed any four size of the desktop but it can not be placed middle of the desktop.

Taskbar is divided in to three parts start button, windows which are open and system tray.

Start button : Start button is located at extreme left of the taskbar.  It has a wondows logo on it. With the help of start button you access control panel, programs and search button.

Windows open: You can view the windows which are open by seeing the taskbar.

System tray: Sytem tray is at the extreme right position of the taskbar. As soon as computer starts applications in sytem tray starts working. You dont need to do anything to start them.

It contains antivirus, date and time, battery life and internet connection.

                 

Operating System

Operating system is the most important software that runs on the computer. It manages computers memory, process and all of its software and hardware. It helps us to communicate with the computer without knowing computers language. Without operating system computer is just a box.

Operating systems work : You guys have probably heard about boot. Booting happens when you start the computer. There are several things involve in the process of booting

I. It runs the test that everything is working fine

II. It checks for new hardware

III. Then it starts the operating system

When your computer starts up there are lot of programs that running on it and all of them tries to access the CPU (Central processing unit) and memory. Operating system provide what every program needs.

There are three types of operating systems available Microsoft windows, Linux and Apple.
But the most popular and widely use operating system is Microsoft windows.

These operating systems use a Graphic User Interface or GUI (googey). Each operating system has a different look and different graphics. But all of these operating systems are user friendly.

Hardware and software

Computer is broadly divided in to two parts hardware and software.

Hardware : Hardware is any part of the computer that has a physical structure such as monitor and keyboard.

Hardware is again divided in to two parts Input devices and Output devices.

Input devices is any computer hardware equipment use to provide a data.  e.g keyboard,mouse,scanner,web-cam,digital camera and microphone.

Output devices is any computer hardware equipment use to communicate the result of processing data. e.g monitor,speaker,printer and plotter.

Software:  Software is any set of instructions that tells the hardware what to do. It what guides the hardware and tells it how to accomplish each task.

Software are also divided in to two parts System software and Application software.

System software consist low level of programming. It interacts with a computer at very basic level.
It includes Operating system,device drivers and all the utilities that enables to computer to function.

Application software are further divide in to two categories General purpose applications and Special purpose applications.
Now a days app slang use for applications.

General purpose applications : General purpose applications are used for basic purpose. Such as MS Word and Power Point.

Special purpose applications:  Special purpose applications are high end applications. They generally use for specific purpose such as payroll, accounting and movie editing software.

What is a computer? 

Computer is an electronic device that manipulates information or data. It has a ability to store,retrieve and process the data. You can use computer for different purpose. Some of them are type document,send e-mail,internet watching films etc. You can also use it for accounting, making presentation, database and playing games.
